The challenge
Based in Much Wenlock, the Wenlock Olympian Society was founded in 1850 by William Penny Brookes to provide “annual competitions in sports and the arts for people of every grade”. These games would come to influence the development of the modern Olympics and some of its traditions can still be seen in today’s games. The Society is still strong today and continues to hold games each year.
The Wenlock Olympian Archives didn’t have any significant home for their archives. During 2019 we began working with the Wenlock team to develop their version of the platform.
What Corals delivered
We launched the site with 899 photographs and images from their collection, and are proud to have Wenlock Olympian Archives as part of the Corals family. This internationally significant organisation now has a contemporary online presence from which to present its images to the world.
